The Proemio winery (medieval Spanish for, Prologue) was established in 2001 by Marcelo Bocardo, third generation winemaker and descendant of a family of Italian immigrants, and is producing a wide range of wines of great quality. Argentina’s wines from the Malbec grape have established themselves as one of Britain’s most popular red wines in recent years as Argentina clearly has the ideal growing conditions, particularly in the Mendoza region, for what in the past was an under-rated grape.
Unoaked is the key note here to allow the freshness of the wine show and dark cherry blueberry fruit characters to evolve.
The grapes are harvested by hand at over 2400 metres above sea level and the farming method is organic with no pesticides and herbisides used, partially helped by the altitude.
