Made in the Provence of Taranto in Brindisi, exclusively from the Primitivo grapes, an ancient varietal introduced by the Phoenicians and Greeks. The wine is aged in French oak barriques for 6 months.
Food match:
Red meats, roasts aged cheeses.
Producer:
The Mottura family have set themselves up with ambitious goals exposing the expressive power of the indigenous local grapes like Primitivo. The management is in the hands of Antonio Mottura and his daughters, Barbera and Martha. Located in Tuglie in the Province of Lecce, in the heart of the Salento Peninsula, it benefits from the limey, clay tufaceous soil of Campi Salenteria. Since 2015 they have been assisted by Emiliano Rossi, a well respected winemaker, to further develop their winemaking to higher levels.
Very nice wine from the Mottura vineyards.
This beats other ‘supermarket’ offerings of the same grape by a long way. Very quaffable indeed. Go on treat yourself. Life is too short to drink cheep wine.
Right up there with the best wines I’ve ever drunk! Lovely hit of dark cherry , full bodied and very moreish
