This Pinot Noir is smooth with an excellent, markedly fruity structure of ripe small berries aromas and delicate floral hints . Thanks to a high acidity the result is a very balanced wine.

Pinot Nero is better known as Pinot Noir in Burgundy and in Germany as Blauburgunder. Alto Adige borders the Austrian Tyrol and is both cool and sunny. The grape was introduced into this part of Italy in the late 19th century as there was a close connection between France and the Austrian Empire and at this time many French varietals were introduced to northern Italy.

Patricia Pinot Nero comes from the south west facing slopes that surround the tiny village of Mazzon above the town of Egra and the river Villa. The wine’s name, Patricia, comes from the name of the owner and grower of the Astmayer-Hof vineyards, Mrs Patricia Von Elzenbaum. This little area centred on Mazzon has a very strong reputation for its Pinot Nero, and indeed has a Pinot Nero Festival every year in May.
