THE PRODUCER
Cascina Morassino is a small, family owned estate and the winemaker is Roberto Bianco, from the youngest generation, and he trained at the highly regarded Alba Enological School.
Cascina Morassino Barbaresco Morassino is a wood-aged red wine made with the Nebbiolo variety in the DOCG Barbaresco, in Piedmont (Italy).
Founded in 1984 by Bianco Mauro, Cascina Morassino now has first class vineyards; 3.5 hectares in Barbaresco and 1 ha in the municipality of Neive. With the aim of showcasing the maximum expression of the vine and terroir, their wines are a synthesis of tradition and modernity. Small gems that are loved all around the world for their great finesse, body and balance.
Cascina Morassino Barbaresco Morassino comes from Ovello, a vineyard located at the top of the main hill in front of Barbaresco. This is one of the most important cru in the area, with vines aged thirty years old on average, planted on calcareous marls at 300 metres above sea level. They are cultivated using respectful agriculture and the harvest is carried out manually at the optimum point of ripeness.
In the winery, the Cascina Morassino Barbaresco Morassino grapes firstly ferment and macerate in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature and then the wine ages in 25 hl wooden casks for a minimum of 18 months.
Cascina Morassino Barbaresco Morassino is a superior red wine that combines the fruitiness and smoothness of a modern Nebbiolo with the tannins of a traditional Barbaresco.
